Automotive News is reporting that Hyundai has overtaken Honda as the greenest auto maker in the U.S. The Union of Concerned Scientists made the determination after conducting its sixth survey on the issue. The “greening” of Hyundai is credited to the fact that the Hyundai line does not include any trucks. The company also offers a hybrid version of its popular Sonata sedan, and is opting in favor of smaller engines where possible. Automotive News quotes Hyundai spokesman Jim Trainor as saying, “[The report] acknowledges our continued work and commitment to reducing emissions in our efforts to create a better environment for all.”
